Pongal is 0ne of the most popular festival in India.It is a popular harvest festival celebrated in the South Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. The festival usually falls in mid-January and is a four-day-long celebration.

Pongal is dedicated to the Sun God and marks the beginning of the auspicious month of Thai. The festival is a time of thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest and is celebrated with much joy and enthusiasm.

During Pongal, people clean and decorate their homes, wear new clothes, prepare traditional dishes such as Pongal (a sweet rice dish), visit family and friends, and participate in various cultural events and games.

The festival is also known for the practice of "Mattu Pongal," which is dedicated to cattle. On this day, cows and bulls are decorated with colorful clothes and bells, and farmers thank them for their hard work in the fields.
